THE CHALLENGE

Palos Community Hospital knew their expansive fitness center could be both a boon to the community and as well as a source of financial support for the hospital. As the hospital leaders looked for opportunities to fully leverage the three year old center’s capacity, they realized the right partner was crucial in capitalizing on the center’s full potential.

THE SOLUTION

In 2001, Palos Community Hospital asked Power Wellness to take-over management of the health and fitness center. The hospital believed Power Wellness possessed the combination of innovation and expertise required to take the facility’s operations and programming to the next level.

Power Wellness set out to transform the hospital’s vision of a cutting-edge medically integrated fitness center into a reality. They began by analyzing the center’s staffing to identify ways to optimize Palos’ effectiveness.

Working together, a fitness staff of certified degreed professionals and a team of motivated, employees with customer focused attitudes began making the center a desirable destination for people wanting to improve their health and wellness in an enjoyable, inspirational environment.

Simultaneously, the Power Wellness Team revamped the center’s marketing approach in the community. The goal was to achieve substantial membership growth through the promotion of the facility among the general population and special populations. Power implemented well-developed, medically integrated programs for members battling diabetes, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s.

While revenue was growing in proportion to the increase in membership and facility utilization, the team also focused on controlling expenditures. As a result, the Palos Health and Fitness Center quickly became a model of efficiency. It is currently both a welcoming, high energy fitness environment and a fiscally responsible, well-managed business.
