Unique Program Offerings for a Diverse Membership Base

While the facility already served a wide range of residents from young adults to older adults, leadership saw untapped potential to expand participation, strengthen healthcare partnerships, and enhance its role as a trusted community wellness hub. At the same time, rising operating costs and growing competition from commercial gyms and boutique studios emphasized the need for a model that could deliver both measurable health outcomes and fiscal stability.

Operational Alignment and Certification

Power Wellness implemented evidence-based operational procedures consistent with Medical Fitness Association (MFA) standards. OPHFC achieved MFA Certification, positioning it among a select group of nationally recognized medical fitness centers, and one of the few municipally owned facilities to hold such distinction. This certification validated the Center’s commitment to quality, safety, and measurable health outcomes. In 2018, the Center was awarded the Medical Fitness Association’s “Facility of the Year” award for medical fitness excellence, further distinguishing itself amongst the other fitness offerings in the area.

Clinical Integration and Program Development

To bridge fitness and healthcare, Power Wellness collaborated with local physicians and hospitals to create referral pathways for patients transitioning from clinical care into supervised exercise. Power Wellness’s evidenced-based MyFitRx® programs were launched for cardiac rehabilitation, cancer recovery, arthritis management, and diabetes prevention. These initiatives strengthened ties with healthcare providers and introduced a steady flow of new members through medical referrals.

Diversified Programming and Community Access

To ensure the facility served residents of all ages and abilities, Power Wellness expanded aquatics programming to include arthritis aquatics, youth swim training, and family swim sessions. Importantly, the Village retained accessible community membership options, maintaining affordability while broadening the value proposition to their residents.
