Power Wellness is proud to announce the latest addition to the center management team with the hiring of Dr. Mary Cox. With her extensive education and experience in health promotion, exercise science, and public health, Dr. Cox is the ideal choice to lead in planning programs and establishing policies for its new Crosby Wellness Center located in the Center for Health & Wellbeing in Winter Park, Florida. She has a Ph.D. in Public Health, a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology, a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
Prior to joining the team at Power Wellness, Dr. Cox was the Medical Fitness Program Director at the Winter Park Health Foundation, and Associate Executive Director for the YMCA of Central Florida. She managed the Peggy & Philip B. Crosby Wellness Center until it was closed late 2016 to make way for the construction of its new facility within the Center for Health & Wellbeing.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Cox served as Director of Health Education, Recreation and Wellness at two higher education institutions. She also held Exercise Physiologist and Recreation Therapist positions at healthcare and rehabilitation facilities Dr. Cox is an active member of several international/national organizations including the Medical Fitness Association, National Association of Public Health Professionals, , National Therapeutic Recreation Association, American College of Sports Medicine, International Council on Active Aging, and American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
The Winter Park Health Foundation who owns the Crosby Wellness Center retained Power Wellness to oversee all management services of the new facility. The Crosby Wellness Center is planned to open in Spring of 2019.
