Medical Integration Precepts Part II:

What is a Medical Advisory Committee? Why Do You Need One?

Provider involvement is key to developing medically integrated fitness programming. Physical therapists, primary care physicians, specialists, nutritionists, and other allied health professionals have the knowledge and skills integral to developing safe, effective programming. They are the backbone of any solid medically integrated fitness center.

Involving these (and other) providers through the establishment of a robust and active Medical Advisory Committee, or MAC, is the first step towards building your medically integrated fitness offerings. A MAC is essential to optimizing physician referral, developing medically integrated fitness programming, fostering collaborative interdisciplinary health education programs, providing guidance on health assessment protocols, and enhancing support for your center among local providers and clinical staff.

Getting your MAC and your members “plugged in” is the next step. Stay tuned for our next blog post, where we delve into the transformative role of integrated technology in shaping the future of medical integrated fitness.
